Why download source checks come first
OpeClaw is not just another web page. A personal AI assistant may touch model API keys, prompts, local files, and automation permissions. If the installation source is unclear, later troubleshooting becomes much harder.
That is why this update puts release-status review before installation. Start with the download page, check the notes for Windows, macOS, and Linux, then decide whether the current status fits your setup.
Four things to verify before installing
First, the source should be verifiable. A reposted script, forum command, group file, or mirrored installer is not enough. Second, the platform path should match your system instead of assuming every operating system is in the same state.
Third, model requests need a boundary. If a cloud model is connected, relevant prompt content may be handled by that provider. Fourth, local permissions matter, especially file access, script execution, and chat-entry authorization.
What changed on this site
The download status page, FAQ, homepage, and related guides now use more careful language: check current status first, review system requirements, then decide whether to install. Claims about commands, version details, download scale, and plan promises are not treated as facts unless they can be verified.
If you only want to know whether to install, start with the download page. If you are troubleshooting connection issues, read the connection guide. This news page explains why those pages should come before any install action.
Download Source Check FAQ
Is this an OpeClaw product announcement?
No. This is a site content update about download-source verification. It does not announce a product release or invent version details.
Can I run an install command now?
Do not copy commands from search results, forums, or reposted notes. Check the download page and current project release status before installing.
Why publish a news page about download sources?
A local AI assistant may touch model keys, files, and chat workflows. If the source is unclear, troubleshooting and permission decisions become unreliable.
